May 5, 2025

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Sushruth R. Moku, DO, an Interventional Pain Management Specialist, to the team at Carolina Pines Medical Group. Dr. Moku’s arrival also marks the launch of a new Interventional Pain Management service line, enhancing the scope of care available to patients throughout Hartsville and the surrounding areas.
Dr. Moku specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of spine, joint, and nerve-related pain conditions. His areas of expertise include kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulator trials, SI fusions, epidural injections, ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal procedures, and more. With a holistic, function-focused approach, Dr. Moku is dedicated to helping patients restore their mobility, relieve pain, and return to the activities they enjoy.
“Pain can greatly limit someone’s ability to live fully, and our goal is to restore that quality of life whenever possible,” said Dr. Brian Sponseller, Chief Medical Officer at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. “The addition of Interventional Pain Management through Dr. Moku brings an important and much-needed service to our community, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Dr. Moku earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Beaumont Health Taylor in Michigan and underwent specialized fellowship training in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Virginia iSpine Physicians, a North American Spine Society-accredited program.
Dr. Moku’s practice philosophy centers on listening, understanding, and clear communication with patients to build trust and collaboratively develop the best individualized treatment plans. He believes every diagnosis and treatment should prioritize improving function and quality of life.
"I look forward to starting my career at Carolina Pines and becoming part of the close-knit Hartsville community," said Dr. Moku. "My goal is to deliver care that helps patients return to doing the things they love."
Dr. Moku will begin seeing patients in mid-May at Carolina Pines Medical Group, located at 701 Medical Park Drive, Suite 303 in Hartsville.
