Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center Celebrates Graduation of Project SEARCH Interns

HARTSVILLE, South Carolina (May 20, 2026) – Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) hosted a graduation ceremony for the 2025-2026 Project SEARCH Interns on Tuesday, May 19. Kentraill Davis, Casey Kelley Henderson, Skylar Brooklynn Nichols, and Lamont Davinder Price graduated from Project SEARCH with family, friends, mentors, and hospital staff in attendance.

Darlington County School District, in partnership with CPRMC, launched the Project SEARCH Program in 2018. The purpose of this program is to place students with developmental disabilities in a real-world work environment, to assist them in learning the transferable and marketable job skills they need to be ready for employment after high school. Interns are placed in a variety of departments throughout CPRMC, participating in three 10-week rotations to better understand how different departments function, as well as get a feel for which they enjoyed most.

These interns have not only gained valuable skills but have also become integral members of our hospital community, touching the lives of all who have had the privilege of working with them. Carolina Pines extends its heartfelt congratulations to these graduates and wishes them success in all their future endeavors!

During the ceremony, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center also took time to recognize and celebrate the retirement of Donna Cameron, who has served as the Project SEARCH Program Instructor since the program launched in 2018. A Hartsville native, Cameron has dedicated more than 36 years to Darlington County School District and spent the past eight years leading and nurturing the Project SEARCH program at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, where she has helped guide countless students toward confidence, independence, and meaningful employment opportunities.

Hospital leadership, staff, students, and families reflected on Cameron’s unwavering compassion, patience, and commitment to the success of every intern who walked through the program’s doors. As she begins a well-deserved retirement and an exciting new chapter, Carolina Pines extends its deepest gratitude for the lasting impact she has made on both the students she served and the hospital community she became such an important part of.

“Project SEARCH has meant so much more to me than just a job,” said Cameron. “These students have truly changed my life over the years. Watching them grow in confidence, discover their abilities, and accomplish things they once thought were out of reach has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. Carolina Pines became a second home to me, and the relationships I’ve built here – with the students, staff, and families – will always hold a special place in my heart. I am incredibly grateful for every moment and will carry these memories with me into retirement.”

Project SEARCH is a national program in 47 states and 10 countries, according to the school district. There are 17 sites in South Carolina in industries from banking to chemical companies to universities and state and local governments. According to the district, Project SEARCH programs across the state have a very high employability rate once those students go through the program. Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center’s 2025-2026 Project SEARCH Program was led by Cameron, Program Instructor, and Angela Neal, Skills Trainer.
