‘Top General Hospital’ by The Leapfrog Group

For two consecutive years, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) has been named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. Each year, approximately 30 hospitals nationwide receive this award for patient care quality. The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers that advocates the highest standards for healthcare safety and quality. 


 

Blue Distinction Center Designation for Total Hip and Knee Replacement

In 2025, Carolina Pines earned the Blue Distinction Center Designation for Total Hip and Knee Replacement from BlueCross BlueShield. This designation recognizes hospitals that demonstrate expertise in delivering high-quality, safe, and cost-efficient care for these procedures. It signifies a commitment to better patient outcomes, as measured by factors such as complication rates and readmissions.


Becker's 2025 Great Community Hospitals

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center was one of 100 hospitals featured in the Becker’s Hospital Review 2025 listing of “Great Community Hospitals.” Carolina Pines was the only hospital in South Carolina included in the list, which recognizes hospitals that are, per Becker’s, “dedicated to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and personalized, whole-person care delivery. Their mission is to elevate health outcomes within the communities they serve.”


 

Carolina Pines Named a ‘Purple Heart Hospital’

In 2025, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center was officially designated as a Purple Heart Hospital by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, becoming the first hospital in South Carolina to receive this distinguished honor. This prestigious recognition reflects Carolina Pines' steadfast commitment to honoring the bravery, service, and sacrifices of our nation’s combat-wounded veterans. The Purple Heart Hospital designation is awarded to medical facilities that show a strong dedication to acknowledging and supporting Purple Heart recipients within their communities.


"A" Rated Hospital by Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center has received seven consecutive “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades dating back to Fall 2022. Designated a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) for Primary Care by the National Center for Quality Assurance

Carolina Pines Medical Group (CPMG) attained recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) for Primary Care by the National Center for Quality Assurance (NCQA). PCMH care models lead to a more satisfied patient experience through a more effective and collaborative dialogue between the patient and their provider. This leads to individualized overall care plans for each patient, resulting in better health outcomes. Physician practices that earn PCMH recognition have committed to continuous quality improvement and a patient-centered approach to care.


 

Disease-Specific Certification for Sepsis from The Joint Commission

In December 2024, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) became the first hospital in South Carolina to earn Sepsis Certification from The Joint Commission, the nation's leading authority in healthcare quality improvement and accreditation. This prestigious certification highlights CPRMC’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care for patients battling sepsis, a life-threatening condition requiring immediate and effective treatment.


 

The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Heart Failure Certification

The certification recognizes healthcare organizations that provide clinical programs across the continuum of care for heart failure. The certification evaluates how organizations use clinical outcomes and performance measures to identify opportunities to improve care, as well as to educate and prepare patients and their caregivers for discharge.


 

The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement

The advanced certification is for Joint Commission-accredited hospitals, critical access hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers seeking to elevate the quality, consistency and safety of their services and patient care.


 

Primary Stroke Center Certification from The Joint Commission

Primary Stroke Center Certification recognizes those hospitals that have state-of-the-art infrastructure, staff and training to receive and treat patients with the most complex strokes, including advanced imaging capabilities, 24/7 availability of specialized treatments, and staff with the unique education and competencies to care for complex stroke patients.

To our hospital team, achieving Primary Stroke Center Certification is an important accomplishment. To our community, it’s assurance that the resources and quality care for stroke treatment will be ready and waiting when needed.


The Joint Commission

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for the hospital and laboratory. This award demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to the highest-quality safety and care of patients, and recognizes compliance with The Joint Commission’s strict national standards.


Primary Stroke Center Advanced Certification

Carolina Pines has achieved advanced certification as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. Achieving this means we're making exceptional efforts to attain better quality outcomes for our stroke patients. The quality of care we provide meets the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients in our area. 


American Heart Association's Gold Plus Get With The Guidelines Stroke Quality Achievement Award

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center has received the American Heart Association’s Gold Plus Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.

Carolina Pines also received the American Heart Association’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll StrokeSM award. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster alteplase. 

In addition, Carolina Pines received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Honor Roll award. Target: Type 2 Diabetes aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.


Accredited Chest Pain Center

Carolina Pines is a Chest Pain Accredited Facility. We have received our accreditation from the American College of Cardiology. We have the capabilities for EMS to transmit EKGs to our Emergency Department from the field. This ability helps us to be able to diagnose and treat life-threatening cardiac conditions more quickly, such as a heart attack.


Blue Distinction Center Maternity

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center has been recognized by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina for showing expertise in delivering safer, more efficient and improved health outcomes. To receive a Blue Distinction Centers for Maternity Care designation, a health care facility must collect race ethnicity data, have a maternal quality improvement program, and commence drills and simulations for adverse events. In addition, it must meet clinical outcome metrics at an even higher standard than the program’s last designation cycle. 


Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine

We are accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, which means that we are committed to providing sleep disorders patients with the highest quality of care. 


Accredited by Intersocietal Accreditation Commission in Echocardiology

The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accredits imaging facilities and hospitals specific to echocardiography. Carolina Pines has evaluated and demonstrated the level of patient care we can provide vascular patients.
