Paul Alford Named Director of the Quarter

We are proud to announce that Paul Alford, Director of Pharmacy Services has been named Outstanding Manager for the 1^st Quarter of 2024.

Paul has been a key player in the healthcare field since 1992 and began his journey with Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in October of 2001. Throughout his career, he has accumulated invaluable experience working at institutions such as Anderson Area Hospital, Clemson University, Duke University Medical Center, University of North Carolina, Chesterfield General Hospital, and McLeod Regional Medical Center. Paul has been serving as our Director of Pharmacy Services since 2000.

The nomination highlighted Paul as a perfect embodiment of the ENGAGE principles, with patient safety being his paramount concern. He encourages his staff to adhere to proper procedures and guidelines, ensuring that safety and quality remain at the forefront. From the outset, Paul stepped into his role with confidence and excelled during critical surveys. He plays an active role in Chest Pain and Joint Commission readiness, ensuring his team has up-to-date policies and procedures.

Paul’s empowering attitude allows his staff to make independent decisions and maintain smooth departmental operations. He places great trust in his team, inspiring them to meet and exceed expectations. His dedication extends beyond his department, reflecting his genuine love for the community and his commitment to the hospital's overall success. Regardless of the challenges, Paul approaches every task with a smile.

In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of his department, Paul is always ready to step in during staff shortages, demonstrating his commitment to both staff and patient needs. He actively contributes to various accreditation and safety teams, including the Chest Pain Accreditation, Joint Commission Accreditation, Sepsis Team, and Falls Team.

Paul is known for his approachable and cheerful demeanor, fostering a sense of camaraderie throughout the building. He is grateful for the resources and support from both staff and administration, and his dedication to the people here is unwavering. His ability to empower his team ensures the department runs efficiently, even in his absence, and he consistently prepares his staff to handle difficult decisions with confidence.
