Christy Moody, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Again Named to Becker's Listing of 'CNOs to Know'

Christy Moody recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as CNO to Know

Moody is one of 274 CNOs nationwide and two from South Carolina to be included in the 2025 listing.

HARTSVILLE, South Carolina (January 2026) – Christy Moody, RN, MSN, CCRN, CPPS, and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC), was recognized on January 10 by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of its “CNOs to Know” for 2025. This list recognizes top CNOs across the country for combining clinical expertise and executive leadership to ensure high standards of patient care while tackling nurse staffing shortages, managing nursing budgets, and developing professional growth opportunities for up-and-coming nurses. Nationwide, 274 CNOs were featured in the listing, including two from South Carolina.

“I’m excited to again be included in this listing of some incredible peers across the country doing amazing work at their hospitals,” Moody said. “I’m sure they feel a lot like I do, very honored but even more grateful for the teams at their hospitals that go to work each day to make a difference in the lives of the patients we care for. I couldn’t work with a better group than the team at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, and I so appreciate their expertise and passion for caring for others.”

Moody oversees the Carolina Pines nursing division, including its operational budget and the scope of work of more than 400 employees. She is responsible for nursing standards and practices in all service areas of the hospital. This is the second time she’s earned this Becker’s recognition. She was also recognized as one of Becker's 90 Patient Safety Experts to Know in 2024, and in 2023 was a recipient of the South Carolina Hospital Association’s annual “Drive to Zero Harm Leadership Award,” one of the highest honors bestowed upon a healthcare professional by the organization.

During Moody’s tenure as CNO at CPRMC, the hospital moved from a "D" grade in 2016 for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group to its current "A" grade, a rating it has held for eight consecutive cycles. CPRMC was also named a “Top General Hospital” by The Leapfrog Group in 2024 and 2023, one of only 30+ hospitals nationwide to earn the designation. In addition, Carolina Pines was recently named one of only four hospitals to earn the “Platinum Award,” ScionHealth’s highest honor as part of the company’s National Quality Strategy. ScionHealth operates about 80 hospitals across 26 states.

“Christy has been an integral part of the evolution of this hospital into one of the top community hospitals in the nation,” said Dr. Brian Sponseller, CEO of CPRMC. “She has been a driving force behind our quality improvements and continues to be today. This award is well-deserved – and her and her team’s handiwork is a huge part of the many other honors this hospital has received in recent years.”

The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team accepted nominations to compile the 2025 “CNOs to Know” list. The full list features individual profiles of the CNOs recognized and can be read here.
