Carolina Pines' CNO, Christy Moody, Named to Becker's Hospital Review's List of Patient Safety Experts to Know
Hartsville, S.C. (September 5, 2025) – Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that Christy Moody, MSN, RN, CPPS, Chief Nursing Officer, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s prestigious list of 132 Patient Safety Experts to Know.
Becker’s recognized this year’s honorees as “unwavering champions for patient harm reduction, disease management and disaster preparedness,” noting their commitment to pioneering new approaches, refining healthcare processes, and elevating safety standards across the industry.
Ms. Moody first joined Carolina Pines in 2003 as an ICU staff nurse and later served as director of ICU before assuming the role of Chief Nursing Officer in 2017. Since then, she has led Carolina Pines with a steadfast commitment to evidence-based best practice, patient safety, and high-quality care.
In 2024, she was honored with the Drive to Zero Harm Leadership Award from the South Carolina Hospital Association for her dedication to advancing patient safety. Under her leadership, Carolina Pines has demonstrated sustained excellence in clinical performance, with measurable improvements in patient safety indicators, infection control, fall prevention, medication safety, and care coordination.
Carolina Pines has achieved an “A” rating from The Leapfrog Group for seven consecutive cycles and, for the past two years, earned Leapfrog’s prestigious Top Hospital Award - accomplishments that underscore Ms. Moody’s leadership in fostering a strong culture of safety and transparency. She has empowered frontline staff to identify issues, report near misses, and actively participate in rapid-cycle improvements, ensuring that patient safety remains the responsibility of every team member.
“Christy is deeply respected by her colleagues and loved by her team because she leads with both expertise and heart,” said Dr. Brian Sponseller, CEO of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. “This recognition is an acknowledgment of her commitment to keeping our patients safe, but those of us who work alongside her see that dedication every single day. Christy has helped shape a culture of safety at Carolina Pines that truly puts patients first.”
This honor marks an important milestone in Christy Moody’s distinguished career and further underscores the national recognition of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center’s commitment to safety and excellence. By empowering staff, advancing best practices, and championing a culture of accountability, Ms. Moody has helped ensure that patients across the Pee Dee region continue to receive the highest quality of care - close to home.
