Amyl NitriteCharcoal
SODIUM NITRITE injection is used to treat cyanide poisoning. It is used with two other medications, amyl nitrite and sodium thiosulfate.
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
carbon monoxide poisoning or smoke inhalation
heart problems
kidney or liver problems
low blood pressure
methemoglobinemia
vision problems
an unusual or allergic reaction to Sodium Nitrite, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
pregnant or trying to get pregnant
breast-feeding
This medicine is injected into a vein. It is usually given by a health-care professional or other trained person. Follow all instructions for use exactly.
This does not apply.
Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications:
sildenafil
tadalafil
vardenafil
This medicine may also interact with the following medications:
medicines for high blood pressure
Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.
Your condition will be closely monitored while receiving this medicine.
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
blue finger nails or lips
fast heart beat
fast or difficult breathing
vomiting
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
dizziness
flushing
headache
nausea
restlessness
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). Protect from light and moisture. Throw away any unused portion after opening the ampules or vials. Discard after expiration date.
