Masking Update

Out of an abundance of caution and to stay within the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center will be reverting to masking for employees, patients and visitors beginning Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Darlington County is again at a high community COVID-19 transmission level. When in a high community level, we are required to follow the guidelines provided by the CDC, which includes that all employees, patients and visitors must wear a well-fitting mask covering their mouth and nose, except when eating or drinking.

Community levels are monitored weekly, and guidelines are subject to change based on the levels. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our employees, patients and visitors safe.

COVID-19 Vaccine Effort

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center strongly encourages everyone 5 and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine, which has proven to be safe and highly effective in controlling the spread of COVID-19.

Third Dose of Pfizer Vaccine

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) is now offering the third dose of the Pfizer vaccine to individuals at the Carolina Pines Medical Group Walk-In Clinic, that meet the below criteria:

The CDC recommends that the following groups should receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine at least 6 months after completing their Pfizer primary series (i.e., the first 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine):

    • people aged 65 years and older
    • residents aged 18 years and older in long-term care settings
    • people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions

The CDC also recommends that the following groups may receive a booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine at least 6 months after completing their Pfizer primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks:

    • people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions
    • people aged 18–64 years at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting

These recommendations only apply to people who previously received a Pfizer primary series (i.e., the first 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine).

Individuals should speak to their healthcare provider about whether getting a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot is appropriate for them.

Visitation Policy

As the prominence of COVID-19 continues to decrease in our community, we are pleased to announce that we are converting back to our pre-COVID visitation policy. We will now allow family and visitors in all patient care areas and our outpatient and main lobby entrances will now be open. We no longer require screening for entrance into the facility, but encourage everyone to self-screen. Please remember that masks are required for all staff, patients and visitors in our facility. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
